About the Winery

Gaja is one of Italy’s most revered wine families, long celebrated for its work in Piedmont. In 1994 the family acquired Pieve Santa Restituta in Montalcino, an estate covering roughly 16 hectares. There Gaja produces a classic blended Brunello alongside two vineyard-designated wines, Rennina and Sugarille. The Rennina name traces back to the estate’s late-Roman origins.

Region & Grape

This wine comes from Montalcino in southern Tuscany and is made from Sangiovese, the grape that defines Brunello di Montalcino DOCG. Rennina draws on three growing sites devoted to Sangiovese. It is often described as the more graceful and lithe of Gaja’s two single-vineyard Montalcino wines, while still delivering depth and structure.

Tasting Notes

Expect an elegant, layered red. The bouquet leans toward bright berry fruit, dried flowers, grilled herbs, and licorice. The palate carries fresh acidity and fine, tightly woven tannins, with notable power despite its refined profile. The finish is long and persistent. This is a wine made to evolve in the cellar over many years.
