The Prunotto Occhetti Langhe Nebbiolo is a Piedmont red wine poured at Grappa in Seattle’s Queen Anne neighborhood. Made by the historic Prunotto estate just outside Alba, it offers the aromatic charm of Nebbiolo in an approachable, elegant form. We pour it as a graceful introduction to the noble grape behind Barolo and Barbaresco.
About the Winery
Prunotto is one of the Langhe’s classic names, a cellar founded nearly a century ago by Alfredo Prunotto and taken over in 1989 by the renowned Antinori family. Located just outside Alba in the heart of the Langhe, a UNESCO World Heritage landscape, Prunotto has long been respected for its faithful, terroir-driven Nebbiolo. The Occhetti has been part of the estate’s range since the 1970s.
Region & Grape
This is a Langhe Nebbiolo made from 100% Nebbiolo, the grape responsible for Piedmont’s greatest reds. The Langhe designation gives the winemaker freedom to craft an earlier-drinking, more open style than Barolo or Barbaresco, while still showing Nebbiolo’s hallmark perfume and structure. The wine is aged for approximately 16 months before bottling.
Tasting Notes
The nose opens with elegant raspberry and rose, lifted by a note of licorice. The palate is full yet harmonious, carried by firm but well-knit tannins and a long, perfumed aftertaste. It is classic Nebbiolo: aromatic, savory, and refined.
What to Pair It With
