Luigi Francoli Grappa di Moscato is a single-grape grappa we are proud to pour at Grappa, our Mediterranean table in Seattle’s Queen Anne neighborhood. Crafted by Distillerie Fratelli Francoli in Ghemme, Piedmont, it captures the perfumed character of the Moscato grape. We list it because few digestifs close a candlelit evening as gracefully, bringing a little of Piedmont from our family to your table.
About the Distillery
The Francoli family’s link to distillation reaches back to the mid-nineteenth century, and Guglielmo and Severo Francoli established the distillery in Ghemme in 1922. Now guided by the fifth generation, the house focuses on classic Piedmontese varieties such as Nebbiolo, Moscato, Brachetto and Arneis, and has earned recognition as a leader in sustainable, low-impact production that makes complete use of the grape pomace.
Style & Production
This is a monovitigno (single-variety) grappa made from the pomace of Moscato, one of Italy’s most aromatic grapes. Grappa is distilled from the skins, seeds and stems left after winemaking, so the Moscato pomace is gently distilled to carry its intense, enveloping perfume into the glass, then bottled bright and clear.
Tasting Notes
Expect a lifted, floral nose of orange blossom, ripe grape and a whisper of fresh herbs. The palate is fragrant and softly sweet in impression, with a warming, clean finish that lingers gently rather than aggressively.
What to Pair It With
Its aromatic lift loves dessert. Try it alongside Mama’s Tiramisu or a silky Vanilla Bean Panna Cotta, or simply with a scoop of gelato or sorbet. Explore the full dine-in menu to build the rest of your evening.
