There is something quietly regal about a grappa born of Barolo. Montanaro Grappa di Barolo, poured by candlelight at our table in Queen Anne, carries the soul of the King of Wines into the glass. From our family to your table, it is an elegant way to let a Piedmontese evening unwind.
About the Distillery
Distilleria Montanaro sits in the heart of Piedmont, near Gallo di Grinzane in the Langhe hills where Barolo is born. The house traces its roots to a tradition of single-grape grappa that reaches back to the late nineteenth century, and its work remains devoted to capturing the character of the great Nebbiolo wines of the region. That sense of place is exactly what we love to bring to the table in Seattle.
Style & Production
This grappa is distilled from the pomace of Nebbiolo grapes, the same noble fruit that gives Barolo its depth. After distillation the spirit is refined in oak barrels, where it settles into a velvety texture and a pale, gentle color. That time in wood softens the spirit and weaves in perfume and warmth, the hallmark of a refined aged grappa.
Tasting Notes
Expect an intense yet delicate spirit, with soft, spicy notes on the nose and a smooth, gently herbal palate. There are echoes of vanilla, warm spice, and a whisper of oak, all carried on a long, harmonious finish. It is balanced and graceful, made for slow sipping.
What to Pair It With
A Barolo grappa loves rich, contemplative plates. Enjoy it with our Flourless Chocolate Cake, our Mama’s Tiramisu, or a shared Charcuterie Board. It is also a superb digestif after our American Wagyu Steaks. Browse the full dine-in menu to build the evening around it.
How It’s Served at Grappa
We pour Montanaro Grappa di Barolo as a digestif at $17, served neat so its perfume and warmth can unfold gradually.
