Angel’s Envy Finished Rye
Angel’s Envy Finished Rye

Angel’s Envy Finished Rye is a rye whiskey given a second life in Caribbean rum casks, and it is poured at Grappa in Seattle’s Queen Anne neighborhood. Rich, dessert-leaning and unmistakably elegant, it is one of the more indulgent pours on our list — a graceful way to close an evening along Boston Street.

About the Distillery

Angel’s Envy was founded by the late master distiller Lincoln Henderson and his family, with its distillery in downtown Louisville, Kentucky. The brand built its reputation on cask-finishing — taking well-made whiskey and refining it in a second barrel that lends a final layer of character. This finished rye is among its signature expressions, and a natural fit for Grappa’s love of considered, finished spirits.

Style & Mash Bill

This is a high-rye whiskey, built on a rye-dominant mash rounded out with a touch of malted barley, giving it a spice-forward backbone. After its initial maturation, the whiskey is finished in casks that previously held Caribbean rum. That rum-cask finish layers deep sweetness over the rye’s spice, marrying the grain’s structure with notes of dark sugar and molasses.

Tasting Notes

Expect an inviting nose of brown sugar, molasses and warm baking spice, with hints of gingerbread and vanilla. The palate is rich and rounded, weaving rye’s peppery spice through dark caramel, dried fruit and a touch of toffee left by the rum casks. The finish is long, warm and gently sweet — an after-dinner rye in spirit.

What to Pair It With

Its dark-sugar sweetness makes it a natural with our flourless chocolate cake, while its rye spine stands up beautifully to our spicy sausage rigatoni or a charcuterie board. Browse the full dine-in menu to complete the evening.
