Castello di Banfi Grappa di Brunello
Castello di Banfi Grappa di Brunello

Castello di Banfi Grappa di Brunello is a single-grape grappa we are honored to pour at Grappa in Seattle’s Queen Anne neighborhood. Made by Banfi in Montalcino, Tuscany, it is distilled from the Sangiovese pomace of their celebrated Brunello di Montalcino. We list it because it brings the soul of one of Italy’s great red wines into an elegant after-dinner glass, from our family to your table.

About the Distillery

Castello di Banfi is a renowned estate in Montalcino, in the heart of Tuscany, best known for its Brunello di Montalcino DOCG. Alongside its wines, the estate produces grappa from the pomace of those same prized vineyards, carrying the character of the Sangiovese grape into a refined distillate.

Style & Production

This is a monovitigno grappa made from the Sangiovese pomace used to produce Brunello di Montalcino. Grappa is distilled from the skins, seeds and stems left after winemaking; here the fermented pomace is lightly pressed and the spirit drawn off by classic double distillation, a method that preserves the pure Brunello aromatics typical of the variety and yields a clear, round grappa.

Tasting Notes

The bouquet is intense and harmonious, with classic Brunello notes of violet, fresh herbs and ripe red cherry. The palate is dry and gently austere, soft and round in impression, closing clean and long without bitterness.

What to Pair It With

Its Sangiovese depth suits bold, savory finishes. Serve it after one of our American Wagyu steaks, with the Flourless Chocolate Cake, or alongside the Charcuterie Board. See the full dine-in menu for the meal that leads up to it.

How It’s Served at Grappa

We pour it as a digestif, served neat at $16.
