Don Julio 1942 is the house’s prestige anejo, a luxurious, slow-aged tequila that makes any evening at Grappa feel like an occasion. At our Mediterranean restaurant in Queen Anne, it is the bottle to reach for when the moment calls for something special.
About the Distillery
Don Julio 1942 honors the year Don Julio Gonzalez began his journey in tequila, and it stands as the brand’s celebrated luxury expression. Produced in the highlands of Jalisco, it reflects the distillery’s reputation for meticulous craft and patient aging. Even the elegant, agave-inspired bottle signals the care poured into what is inside.
Agave & Region
This tequila is made from blue Weber agave grown in Los Altos, the highland region of Jalisco. The high elevation, cool nights, and iron-rich red soil produce fuller, sweeter agave with a soft, floral elegance. Those highland qualities give 1942 its rounded richness and refined depth.
Tasting Notes
Aged roughly two and a half years, it offers indulgent notes of warm caramel, toffee, and rich vanilla over roasted agave. Hints of dark chocolate, baking spice, and toasted oak add layers, all carried on a silky texture and a long, graceful finish. It is opulent yet beautifully balanced.
What to Pair It With
Its dessert-like richness is a showpiece beside Grappa’s Famous Paella and the smoky Spaniard Octopus. It also makes a refined finish alongside our Spicy Sausage Rigatoni. Explore more on the full dine-in menu.
