Elvio Cogno Bordini Barbaresco
Elvio Cogno Bordini Barbaresco

The Elvio Cogno Bordini Barbaresco is a Piedmont red wine poured at Grappa in Seattle’s Queen Anne neighborhood. Made by the respected Elvio Cogno estate from a single plot in the Bordini vineyard, it is a 100% Nebbiolo Barbaresco of real finesse. We pour it for guests who appreciate a refined, site-driven expression of Nebbiolo.

About the Winery

The Cogno family has made wine in Piedmont for four generations. In 1990, Elvio Cogno left a long partnership with a noted Barolo producer and bought a historic 18th-century farmhouse near Novello, establishing his own estate. The winery is now led by his daughter Nadia and her husband Valter Fissore, and it is celebrated for precise, traditional Nebbiolo.

Region & Grape

This is a Barbaresco made from 100% Nebbiolo grown in the Bordini vineyard in the commune of Neive, in Piedmont. Barbaresco is one of the two great homes of Nebbiolo, prized for elegance and perfume. Sourcing from a single vineyard like Bordini gives the wine a clear, focused sense of place, and it is aged in large Slavonian oak in the traditional style.

Tasting Notes

Expect a fine, complex nose of ripe red fruit and violet with a gentle spicy undertone. The palate is elegant and polished, with finely judged tannins, an earthy mineral streak, and a long, graceful finish. It is Barbaresco built on finesse rather than force.
