Heirloom Creme de Flora is a floral liqueur — a fragrant, blossom-forward pour in the Italian millefiori tradition — and it is served at Grappa in Seattle’s Queen Anne neighborhood. Made by Heirloom Liqueurs in Minneapolis, it gathers flowers from around the world into a single aromatic liqueur. We keep it on the list as a delicate, perfumed option, lovely on its own and a graceful lift in a cocktail.
About the Producer
Heirloom Liqueurs is the work of Nick Kosevich and Ira Koplowitz, the duo behind Bittercube bitters, with their liqueurs produced in Minneapolis. Creme de Flora began life as a house creme de flora the team made for bars and restaurants around the country starting in 2009, before becoming part of the Heirloom range. The project reflects their long study of traditional European liqueur-making.
Style & Production
In Italy this style is known as millefiori — a thousand flowers — a category built from seasonal blooms with recipes that vary widely by region. Heirloom’s Creme de Flora is created from a bouquet of vibrant flowers native to five continents, including marigold and chamomile among them. The blossoms are blended into a sweet liqueur designed to work equally as an aperitif and as an aromatic accent in mixed drinks.
Tasting Notes
The nose is bright and floral, a garden bouquet of petals and soft herbs. On the palate it is sweet and perfumed, with chamomile, marigold and honeyed flower notes carried on a smooth, rounded body. The finish is gentle and aromatic, leaving a lingering floral sweetness.
What to Pair It With
Its delicate sweetness flatters lighter dishes and the dessert course alike. Try it with our Vanilla Bean Panna Cotta, alongside Heirloom Tomatoes & Burrata, or with a scoop of Sorbet. See the full dine-in menu for more.
How It’s Served at Grappa
Heirloom Creme de Flora is poured at $13, served chilled and neat or as a fragrant lift in a cocktail.
