Ketel One brings a craftsman’s touch to our Queen Anne bar, a vodka shaped by generations of family distilling rather than by trend. We pour it for guests who value its crisp, honest character, whether they take it cold and neat or folded into a classic cocktail at Grappa.
About the Distillery
Ketel One is made by the Nolet family in Schiedam, the Netherlands, where they have been distilling since 1691. The name honors the original coal-fired copper pot still, Distilleerketel No. 1, still central to the house’s approach. After more than three centuries, the family remains hands-on, tasting every batch and keeping a deeply traditional Dutch spirit alive in the modern glass.
Style & Character
This is a wheat vodka built around a pot-still finish, a detail that sets its tone. Most of the spirit is column distilled for clarity, then a portion is finished in those classic copper pot stills, which adds depth, texture and a subtle savory roundness you do not always find in lighter styles. The effect is a vodka that feels both clean and characterful, fresh on the surface with quiet complexity underneath.
Tasting Notes
The nose is crisp and inviting, with hints of honey, citrus zest and fresh grain. On the palate it is smooth and lively, showing a touch of white pepper and a gentle wheaty warmth before a clean, peppery finish. Served chilled, it is bright and refreshing, equally at home sipped slowly or stirred into something elegant.
What to Pair It With
Ketel One pairs beautifully with the lighter, fresher plates on our menu. It is wonderful with our Fresh Oysters, where its crisp edge meets the brine, and with the Dungeness Crab & Shrimp Salad, whose sweetness it gently sharpens. It also shines next to Heirloom Tomatoes & Burrata. Discover more on our dine-in menu.
