Lucius Chilled Mourvedre
Lucius Chilled Mourvedre

Lucius Chilled Mourvedre is a bright, chillable Washington red poured by the glass at Grappa in Seattle’s Queen Anne neighborhood. Made by Lucius Wines in the Yakima Valley, it is 100% Mourvedre crafted in a fresh, light-on-its-feet style meant to be served with a chill. We added it to the list because it offers all the joy of a red with the refreshment of a summer pour.

About the Winery

Lucius Wines is the exploratory project of Washington winemaker Andrew Latta, named for his great-grandfather, Lucius Joseph Latta. The label is a space for adventurous varieties and techniques, sourcing from sustainable Yakima Valley sites with a minimal-intervention hand. This Mourvedre draws on fruit from longtime vineyards, including Upland Vineyard, the oldest commercial vineyard in Washington, established in 1917.

Region & Grape

This wine comes from the Yakima Valley in Washington State, the heart of the state’s wine country. It is made entirely from Mourvedre, a grape that can deliver both structure and energy. Here it is vinified for freshness and brightness, producing a lighter-framed red built to be served chilled.

Tasting Notes

Expect a lively nose of tart cherry, cranberry, and pomegranate. The palate is bright and juicy with crunchy red fruit, gentle tannins, and a refreshing lift. Served with a slight chill, it is energetic and thirst-quenching, with just enough savory edge to keep it interesting.
