Poli Po’ di Poli Morbida, the smooth expression, is a single-grape grappa we love to pour at Grappa in Seattle’s Queen Anne neighborhood. Made by Poli Distillerie in Schiavon, near Bassano del Grappa in the Veneto, it is an aromatic grappa built for gentle, fragrant sipping. We list it because its rounded, citrus-blossom character makes it one of the most welcoming digestifs on our list, from our family to your table.
About the Distillery
The Poli family distillery has been active since 1898 in Schiavon, in the heart of the Veneto, an area historically renowned for grape-marc distillation. Still family-run, Poli is a celebrated name in Italian grappa, working in small artisanal lots with traditional stills and giving great care to preserving each grape’s delicate aromas.
Style & Production
This monovitigno grappa is distilled from the aromatic Moscato (Orange Muscat) pomace left after winemaking. Grappa is made by distilling the skins, seeds and stems of the grape; here Poli works in small batches with a traditional bain-marie still, a gentle method chosen to carry the grape’s most volatile, fragrant aromas into the bottle. It is left clear and unaged.
Tasting Notes
The nose is bright and inviting, recalling a basket of oranges, tangerine and a slice of pineapple with orange-blossom lift. The palate is broad, smooth and flavorful, finishing warm, harmonious and remarkably soft.
What to Pair It With
Its citrus perfume shines with dessert. Pair it with Mama’s Tiramisu, a chilled Vanilla Bean Panna Cotta, or a dish of gelato or sorbet. See the full dine-in menu for the courses that come before.
How It’s Served at Grappa
