Salt Road Blood Orange Gin is a vivid, citrus-forward gin poured at Grappa in Seattle’s Queen Anne neighborhood. We love this one for its sun-ripened blood orange character and a whisper of coastal salt — a gin that feels made for a Mediterranean table.
About the Distillery
Salt Road takes its name and inspiration from the historic Via del Sale, the old salt-trade routes that once linked the coast of Liguria to the hills of Piedmont in northern Italy. The brand draws on that heritage of salt, sea and citrus, building a gin around bright blood orange and a subtle saline thread. The bottle is also seen under the name The Northern Salt Road.
Botanicals & Style
The botanical character centers on ripe blood orange, layered over a classic base of juniper, coriander and sage, with a delicate touch of sea salt that lends a coastal, savory edge. The salt does not read as salty so much as it lifts and rounds the citrus, brightening the blood orange and giving the gin its distinctive seaside character. It is a bold, citrus-forward and faintly herbaceous style, with juniper present but playing a supporting role to the fruit.
Tasting Notes
Expect a fragrant nose of fresh blood orange and zest with a savory, herbal lift. The palate is bright and full, with sweet-tart citrus, gentle sage and coriander, and a clean saline edge. The finish is crisp, citrus-driven and refreshing.
