Angel’s Envy Port Finish Bourbon
Angel’s Envy Port Finish Bourbon

Angel’s Envy is a Kentucky straight bourbon finished in port wine barrels, and it is poured at Grappa in Seattle’s Queen Anne neighborhood. We love this one for its wine-cask elegance: the port finish brings a layer of dark fruit and sweetness that feels right at home in a Mediterranean dining room.

About the Distillery

Angel’s Envy is crafted in the heart of Louisville, Kentucky, founded by the late Bourbon Hall of Fame master distiller Lincoln Henderson together with his son Wes Henderson. The house was built around the idea of finishing — taking fully matured bourbon and giving it a second, transformative rest in wine casks. That signature port-barrel finish is what sets Angel’s Envy apart and made it one of the most admired modern American whiskeys.

Style & Mash Bill

This is a Kentucky straight bourbon, made on a corn-forward mash bill with a gentle rye accent, placing it among gently rye-influenced styles. After aging in new charred American oak, the bourbon is finished for several additional months in casks that previously held ruby port from Portugal. That finishing step layers dark fruit and a wine-like depth over the bourbon’s classic character.

Tasting Notes

Expect a nose of vanilla, ripe raisin and dark berry, with maple and toasted oak. The palate is round and lightly sweet, weaving caramel and bourbon spice together with port-driven notes of dried fruit, fig and a touch of dark chocolate. The finish is smooth and gently fruity — an inviting, dessert-friendly bourbon.

What to Pair It With

The port finish makes Angel’s Envy a natural with dessert and rich plates. It is a beautiful match for our Flourless Chocolate Cake, the bourbon’s dark fruit echoing the cocoa, and it shines beside our American Wagyu Steaks. It also pairs handsomely with the Charcuterie Board. Explore the full dine-in menu to round out your evening.
