Knob Creek Rye
Knob Creek Rye

Knob Creek Rye is a Kentucky straight rye whiskey poured at Grappa in Queen Anne, Seattle. Distinct from the well-known Knob Creek bourbon, this is the rye expression: bold, deeply flavored and patiently aged, made for guests who appreciate a whiskey with real character and depth.

About the Distillery

Knob Creek is part of the James B. Beam Distilling Co. in Clermont, Kentucky, where it was introduced in 1992 under master distiller Booker Noe as part of the small batch movement that helped revive full-flavored American whiskey. The brand takes its name from a creek near Abraham Lincoln’s boyhood home, and it reflects the distillery’s commitment to pre-Prohibition-style richness and depth.

Style & Mash Bill

This is a straight rye built on a rye-forward grain recipe, rounded with corn and malted barley to give it body alongside its spice. It is distilled in the classic Kentucky tradition and matured in deeply charred new oak barrels, which is where Knob Creek earns its signature character, drawing out generous caramel, toasted oak and a robust, full-bodied texture beneath the rye grain.

Tasting Notes

Expect a rich nose of caramel, vanilla and oak, opening to a full palate of toffee, brown sugar, baking spice and a firm thread of peppery rye. The deep barrel char gives it a toasted, almost smoky warmth, and the finish is long, spicy and satisfying. This is a substantial, confident rye that drinks beautifully neat.
